Edward J. Golla – Obituary

Edward J. Golla, 90, 4453 Route 310, P.O. Box 2, Reynoldsville, died Saturday at the DuBois Nursing Home.

Born May 6, 1917, in Penfield, he was a son of the late John J. Golla and Victoria Michvick Golla. He married Kathryn M. Welsh Gilla Oct. 12, 1940; she survives.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Reynoldsville and retired as foreman of Track Equipment for Conrail Railroad after 42 years of service. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 540, and the Ham Radio Operators Club. He served on the Reynoldsville Borough Council and served for 20 years as a member of the Jefferson County Housing Authority.

He is survived by one son, Edward D. Golla of Round Rock, Texas; two sisters, Lois Kemp of New Bethlehem, and Donna Thompson of Leesburg, Fla., and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by one son, David Golla, two brothers and one sister.

GOLLA: Edward J., 4453 Route 310, P.O. Box 2, Reynoldsville, died May 26, 2007. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home of Reynoldsville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Leo C. Cramer officiating. Burial will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park Mausoleum of Reynoldsville.

Joseph W. Golla, 85, Allentown, died Feb. 26 in the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill, Lehigh County.

His wife, Patricia M. (Orner) Golla, died in 1987.

Born in Reynoldsville, Jefferson County, he was a son of the late Joseph P. and Elizabeth (Regulski) Golla.

Golla had been employed as a printer, first by Kutztown Publishing Co., and later Reading Eagle Company, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Allentown.

Golla was an Army veteran of World War II, receiving the Bronze Star.

He was past commander of American Legion Post 392, Reynoldsville.

Golla was a life member of the Reynoldsville Elks Lodge 519.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen M. (Golla) Antonelli, Hellertown, Northampton County, and Colleen D. (Golla) Sutton, Bethlehem.

Other survivors include a brother, Paul E., Allentown, and a sister, Mary (Golla) Mancuso, Reynoldsville.

There are also two grandsons.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Help Church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Hanover Township, Lehigh County. O’Donnell Funeral Home Inc., Allentown, is in charge of arrangements.
